“It’s the most wonderful time of the year.” Right? Hmmm. For some, it can be the most stressful time of the year. Our lives are already packed with to-do’s, jammed with financial commitments and crammed with emotional stress. When you add gift buying, Christmas events and the expectation of yule-tide cheer, you don’t often get a Merry Fa-La-La-La-La-La-La-La-La holiday family experience. Can you relate?
Why is it important to Say NO to Holiday Hustle. The Christmas Season only comes around one time a year, and we all have high expectations that this year will be different..better than the last. After the holidays are over, we have regrets because, although our intentions were good, the holiday was no different than past years. Why? Because we allowed it to be the same. If we want this year to be different, we have to be intentional about making it different.
The world gravitates, even pushes us toward the tangible, materialistic side of Christmas. It takes some serious resistance to fight the invisible pull we face. We were not created to live in stress and chaos. That holds especially true during the holiday season. It comes down to a matter of choice. What holiday experience will you create in your home for your family this year? The choice is yours.
So, how do you Say No to Holiday Hustle? I’ve learned some things over the years in making an intentional effort to create a positive, Christ-centered holiday experience for my family. It’s not easy, but it’s worth it!
