There is no time like a Sunday to take a nice long coffee break and reflect on the week past and embrace the week ahead. There are a few things I will share with you that I have either discovered over the past week or look forward to in the week ahead that add to the simplicity of my family’s life. Since God created us each in our own unique design, what blesses one with simplicity, may make another crazy! So if these things bring a little more “stillness” to your life, great! I would love for you to share your win. If not, you may share that too, but we’ll try again next time we do a coffeebreak together.
Online Family Calendar
This web-based tool is great for larger families and smaller busy ones. I was formerly using Gmail Calender to organize my schedule. I ran across Cozi Calendar (www.cozi.com) and fell in love with it! It is web-based, so you can bookmark the site on your phone and add a widget for a shortcut on your home screen (I just learned what a widget is and am happy to help). You get to list all your family members and schedule appointments for each of them individually so you know who is to be where and when. The really cool thing is that you, your spouse and your kids can see what’s ahead and even enter appointments. I have even taught my 8 year old how to log in online so he knows what to expect for the week (he is a planner like me:). Do you have a teenager that comes up to you at the last minute and says, “I am ready to go”? You have no idea where they are ready to go, but you are their ride to get there. Apparently, you agreed last week to the plans but totally forgot. According to them, us parents lost our ability to function in this world once our kid became a teenager! Amazing how that works. Did I mention this is totally FREE? Give it a look. A little simplicity might just be right around the corner in the way of technology..gotta love it.
Now, go refill your coffee cup and relax.
